Marketing refers to activities a company or an individual makes to promote the buying or selling of a product or service. Digital marketing is a dynamic field that is constantly changing with the behaviour and also technologies upgrades. However, marketing is the root of all business and it’s linked to human psychology.

Law of marketing

Marketing is based on 80% science and 20% on creativity. It starts with knowing the needs of the customer and the demand in the market and then creating that product to fit the need. This is called felt need and addressing it. All said and done the main thing which matters is that marketing is about sending the right message to the right person at the right time.  Marketing doesn’t end with making business with the customer. It’s just the beginning of the customer journey with us and it’s our responsibility to keep the customer engaged and add value to his life so that he stays happy through our services for a lifetime. So in marketing, the lifetime value of the custom is the most important variable to be kept in mind.

“Marketing is not about the stuff that you make, but about the story, you tell” – Seth Godin

Marketing is a game of perception. There are five states of perception, which are: stimulation, organization, interpretation, memory, and recall. Never let marketing become more important than the product. A great product sells itself. A great product converts your customer into your brand ambassador. Marketing goes a long way when we don’t find customers for your product, we find products for your customers.

Why learn and master Marketing?

Even with the most structured business plans, it’s the customers who make the rules. Customers drive brand equity through their various perceptions and journeys. So understanding customers’ pain points and helping them at every touch point adds a lot of value to the customers.

Marketing teaches us that customer insight is a large factor in determining success. Perceptions of truth largely dictate the decision-making process for many consumers.

Consumers make purchases based on how products and services are packaged. It’s said people buy through their eyes. It is not a decision based on truth, but rather the perception of truth. The ability to influence decision and buying habits is a useful skill, even outside of a traditional marketing role to most advanced digital marketing roles.

Marketing education has a long shelf life. Marketing is a game of perception and perceptions can only be created by humans and not robots. Marketing also gives an immediate ROI. If you know how to sell and market you will have a safe career

Communication skills and Marketing

Good marketing is about good communication skills. A marketer’s chief responsibility is communication with customers. Getting the right message to the right people and making them act, think, or feel a certain way takes skill and knowledge. Not all marketers are naturals in every type of communication and may focus on a specific area. Therefore, a good marketer never stops learning to improve their communication skills. Write as you talk, simulate the conversations in people’s minds. Understand your target audience very well.

Global economics & Marketing

Make decisions in your business based on economics. A country’s market opportunity is based on the county’s population age distribution and buying power. While globalization has led to the convergence of more developed economies, with less developed economies the growing advantage is being able to connect each person globally.

‘Global economics’ gives an insight into how trade has shaped the global economy – it also gives an analysis of the major problems challenging the global economy in the 21st Century, and presents an analysis of the financial crisis and the rise of powerful trading alliances. Globalization has, however, enabled powerful multinationals to avoid taxes by employing complex tax systems.

Traditional marketing on the other hand includes traditional channels, like billboards and printed media.  Up until the development of the internet in the 1990s, traditional marketing was pretty much the only type of marketing. Of course, traditional marketing doesn’t mean it’s old fashioned. Traditional marketing still plays an important role in people’s lives with the ever-growing need to step out of the digital world. Subconsciously you attach yourself to their brand emotionally, meaning they will stay at the top of your mind.

In the same comparison, digital marketing is just as important as traditional if not even more so. Digital marketing uses every touch point of your daily use of the internet to reach you.Using the internet for several hours each day is a normal part of most people’s day to day life.

Direct response is a type of marketing designed to elicit an instant response by encouraging prospective customers to take a specific action. Direct response advertisements must trigger immediate action from prospects since the goal is to generate leads quickly and convert them.
